Austin Foam Plastics acquires EPI’s protective packaging division

PKBR Staff Writer Published 27 February 2017

Engineered packaging solutions provider Austin Foam Plastics (AFP) has acquired protective packaging division of Engineered Packaging (EPI).

Financial terms of the deal were undisclosed.

AFP expects the acquisition to strengthen its ability to serve existing customers in the Midwest and is strategically positioned for growth.

AFP Emerging Business Development senior vice-president Greg Peden said: "AFP recognized strong relationships with customers and vendors, overlaps in core competencies, integration of technologies, and expansion of converting capabilities, in a new geography we were not currently serving."

EPI, however, will continue to operate its Temperature Controlled Packaging Division.

Upon completion of the deal, AFP will assume the protective packaging, distribution and returnable/consumable lines of business.

AFP said in a statement: “AFP looks forward to serving product manufacturer's packaging needs and growing customer relationships in the greater Midwest.”

The firm is engaged in designing, producing, manufacturing, and sourcing protective packaging for product manufacturers in retail and direct shipping environments.

The family-owned firm, AFP offers products including corrugated, foam, molded pulp and crating.

AFP currently operates five facilities in Austin, Texas; Dallas, Texas; El Paso Texas; Columbus, Ohio; and Nashville Tennessee, US. It also has operations throughout Asia and Mexico.
